Trinity Academy pupil Jake Hepworth has been presented with an award after never missing a day of school in the last seven years.

The 15-year-old was presented with a certificate and £50 gift card in recognition of his unblemished record at an assembly marking the end of term for year 11 students.

Jake built up his 100 per cent attendance during the three years that the Academy has been open, two years previously at Thorne Grammar School and two years at Brooke Primary School in Thorne.

"There have been days when I have come to school with a cold or a headache so I could maintain my record. I have been quite determined not to miss a day," he said.

"I think everyone should aim for 100 per cent attendance because it goes down on your school record and shows employers that you will be committed to your job."

Jake will now join the Academies sixth form in September to study ICT, Business and Media at A level.

Ian Brew, Principal at Trinity Academy, said: "We have a number of students who have a 100 per cent attendance record but Jake's is extra special because he has maintained it for so long.

"He sets a fine example to other students and deserves the recognition for his self-imposed dedication to his education.

Other year 11 students who maintained 100 per cent attendance this school year were: Gregg Atkinson, Joseph Duffin, Gemma Eddleston, Connor Henry, Katie Hunter, Shaun Mattocks, Daniel Munn, Elizabeth Tiffancy, Adam Walker and Lucy Woods.
