A Liverpool man has appeared before a judge following a police investigation into an incident outside a Goole pub.

Dominic Abbott (19), from Lisburn Lane, Liverpool, has been charged with grievous bodily harm to Steven Nicholls (27) outside The Royal public house on Aire Street in Goole on May 23.

Ginger-haired Mr Abbott, who wore a black T-shirt and jeans, has also been charged with affray. He sat in the dock of court three staring at the public gallery during the 15-minute hearing on Monday, June 2.

His defence barrister James Sampson made no application for bail. Crown barrister Jharna Jobes set out the timetable for the case and no charges were read to Mr Abbott, which is normal at this stage.

Recorder David Bradshaw ordered Mr Abbott to stand as he told him he would next be before the court on August 1.

He was remanded in custody.
