CRACKDOWN
Dawn raids in Goole on Monday led to six people being charged as part of a huge police crackdown on dealing in class A drugs.
Twenty-three police officers stormed their way into the properties of the suspected criminals on Sotheron Street, Marshfield Avenue, Broadway, Manuel Street and Swinefleet Road as part of the ongoing 'Operation Diamond' in the early hours.
Six people have now been charged with a total of 56 drug offences and it is expected that there will be more over the coming few days.
The operation took place simultaneously in both Goole and the Crosby area of Liverpool, led by Humberside Police.
Following the raids on Monday Jose Nelio Goncalves (35), of Swinefleet Road, Antonio Silva Estrela (33), of Broadway and Gary Terrance Durrant (28), of Sotheron Street were all arrested and charged with supplying crack cocaine and heroin.
Between them they have been charged with a total of 29 drug offences and appeared before Beverley Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Three men also appeared before the court on Wednesday after being tracked down and arrested on Tuesday. Adam Williamson (37), of Manuel Street, has been charged with supplying heroin and Ian Bulmer (34), of Marshfield Avenue, has been charged with supplying crack cocaine and heroin.
A 20-year-old Liverpool man has also been charged with supplying crack cocaine and heroin as a result of raids in Merseyside.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Rawding, who is leading the operation, said: "As a result of police intelligence over the past six or seven months we have been able to find out a lot of detailed information concerning individuals in both Goole and Merseyside.
"There is a problem with drugs in most market towns and Goole is no better or worse than any other town or city.
"By taking these suspected dealers off the streets, it's important to give help and support to those individuals, their relatives, their communities and to anyone who has and is being affected by substance misuse."
Fiona Conyers, drug action officer for Safe Communities East Riding, added: "As part of the Drugs Intervention Programme, people arrested and charged with offences will be automatically assessed for drugs use.
"Treatment services will carry out an assessment of an individual to identify their specific needs. This is a very real opportunity to help reduce the demand for class A drugs in Goole."
Mr Rawding also stated that those who had not yet been captured would be caught at some point in the coming few days as they were put on the wanted list of all units in the country.
As a warning to all drug dealers, Mr Rawding sent out a clear message: "If you continue to deal drugs, you will get captured and you will get arrested.
"We are very committed to this; it is a very serious offence. We know who they are. The time is up for drug dealers - they will get caught and they will go to prison."
More arrests are expected in time and the operation is ongoing.
