A horror car-jack in Birmingham has left a blind 15-year-old girl traumatised.

Samara Hussain, who is from Rotherham but is staying with family in Goole, had gone to Birmingham with her mum and other family members for a religious festival over Bank Holiday weekend.

However, the weekend was ruined when the car Samara was travelling in was stolen by three men - with her still inside.

Samara was in the car when her aunt got out to get her an ice cream in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham. Her mother, Sophina, who was travelling in another car, was also nearby in a shop.

Within seconds two men jumped into the car and drove it off, with a terrified Samara in the back seat.

The men were later joined by a third, who told Samara to get out of the car. She explained that she couldn't because she was blind and the men started shouting at her, grabbing hold of her neck.

After an hour of driving the three men dumped the car and Samara at the side of the road. Somebody later approached the car, asking Samara to move it.

Samara explained that she could not move the car because she was blind. It was then that police, who had already been contacred by Samara's family, arrived at the scene.

She was taken to Scunthorpe Hospital last Tuesday and was admitted for a week, where she received treatment for trauma and shock. She is also receiving counselling. Samara cannot sleep and wakes up with nightmares. She also hates travelling in cars.

Samara's mum, whose parents live in Goole, said: "When the police eventually said they had found the car with the girl I thought they'd killed her. It was really horrible, I was yelling and shouting and crying.

"It is just awful, it must be bad enough for it to happen to someone who can see, but even worse for someone who can't."

Samara and her mum will be staying with relatives in Goole for a few weeks until she begins to recover from her experience.

Nobody has yet been arrested and the incident is still under investigation.
