Boost for struggling newspaper charity
Goole and District Talking Newspapers received a cash boost from Goole Community Warehouse on Friday.
They received a cheque for £250 following news in the Goole Times recently that the voluntary organisation was struggling to keep up with the rent.
David Caldicott, who runs Talking Newspapers, said: "Everyone at the Talking Newspaper is delighted to receive a generous donation this year from the Community Warehouse which will enable us to continue to provide this popular service."
Other donations made by the Community Warehouse this week include: CAB £200, Boothferry Primary School £100, Goole Blind Group £50, Wolds Community Centre £50, Old Goole Community Centre £50, Carlton Cannons £50, Goole Town Tigers under twelves £50, Goole Youth Netball £50, Trinity Methodist £50 and Pollington Monday Club £50.
Goole Talking Newspapers make a taped edition of the Goole Times each week and distribute it to visually impaired people in the area.
The group, which is based at The Courtyard, is volunteer run and relies on donations and fundraising to cover costs of equipment, insurance, repairs and office rental.
If anybody can help with sponsorship, donations or assistance or would like more information, please contact David Caldicott on 01405 763664 or email CaldicoD@aol.com or leave a message with The Courtyard on 01405 837100.
