A 25-year-old man has been given a two-year motoring ban after he was caught drink-driving.

Jacek Kedzior, of Dunhill Road, Goole, was spotted driving erratically by police on Pasture Road. Mr Kedzior appeared at Goole Magistrates' Court this week, where he pleaded guilty to driving while over the limit.

Julie Laverack-Glanvile, prosecuting, said police spotted Mr Kedzior's Rover crossing the white lines in the middle of the road and swerving from side to side at slow speeds. She said Mr Kedzior repeatedly turned on his right-hand indicator but turned left.

Police followed him down Jackson Street and stopped him on Dunhill Road, near his home. Mr Kedzior, who was more than twice over the legal limit, told police he had only had one drink. He then proceeded to fail a roadside breath test.

A further breath test at the local police station showed that Mr Kedzior had 86mgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal driving limit is 35mgs.

Alison Farmer, defending, said Mr Kedzior had driven to a friend's house just a few streets away when he was spotted by police.

He had been out drinking with friends and "stupdily thought he was okay" to drive.

Mr Kedzior, who works at a fresh-fruit factory in Camblesforth, was banned for two years and was fined £300. He was also ordered to pay £55 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £15.
