The Planning Inspectorate has overridden a decision by the East Riding council after granting planning permission for extensions to a property in Bubwith.

The decision was taken by planning inspector Michael Hurley after he looked into plans for a two-storey rear extension, a single-storey side extension and bay windows to the front of Hawthorn House on Highfield Road.

To make way for the new property a couple of outbuildings will be demolished.

In June last year the East Riding of Yorkshire Council had rejected the bid on the grounds that the proposed development, on Highfield Road, would have overshadowed neighbouring properties, including the Old Coach House.

The Planning Inspectorate rejected this claim and gave the green light for the development, subject to the extensions being built with certain prescribed materials.
