A judge has ordered the arrest of a disqualified driver who stole an Iveco lorry from Gilberdyke and drove it without insurance.

Judge Roger Thorn, QC, waited for two hours before ordering the arrest of John Frame (30) after he failed to appear at Hull Crown Court for sentence on Monday.

Mr Frame of Lilac, Avenue, Knottingley, stole the lorry from a secure compound on Main Street in Gilberdyke, on Sunday February 10.

The lorry belonged to Altrevere Ltd and it was spotted soon after being secured for the night driving past an Altrevere employee in Newport around 7.45pm.

Mr Frame, who has a string of convictions for motoring offences, was due to appear at Hull Crown Court for sentence.

He failed to appear. Barrister Richard Canning said he could offer no explanation.

Judge Thorn ordered Mr Frame's arrest with a warrant to next be brought before the court in police custody. He had earlier been granted bail after pleading guilty to theft, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

His case was sent by Goole Magistrates' Court to Hull Crown Court for sentence.
