Former bingo hall plans welcomed
A new retail and housing development would make an excellent entrance to the town centre, councillors said at Monday's meeting.
Discussing amended plans to turn 111 - 117 Boothferry Road into three retail units, ten apartments and two town houses, Goole Town councillors said the development should be welcomed.
The plans have been changed to include two extra car parking spaces.
Cllr Shirley Marshall said: "He [applicant Julian Read] has increased the car parking so we should welcome it. It's a brilliant space for someone."
Cllr Malcolm Boatman added:"It's close to the bus route and the shops. The retails units there at the moment are hard to let and in poor condition. The development can only enhance the entrance to the town centre."
East Riding Council will discuss the application next week.
