Criminals in Goole are to be targeted by a new operation called Maximum Impact.

Four police forces - Humberside, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and North Yorkshire - are coming together throughout February for a series of co-ordinated operations.

It got off the ground at the weekend when officers launched the first week, which has the theme 'Tackling criminals in your neighbourhood'.

For the rest of the week, officers across the Humberside Police area will be targeting wanted criminals and are warning people who know they are wanted by the police that they should hand themselves in before they are tracked down.

Assistant chief constable Alan Leaver said: "Humberside Police is working closely with West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and North Yorkshire Police forces to tackle crime and criminals who operate across the region.

"We will undertake joint operations in our four forces by pooling our resources. This means officers from the four forces will be working across the area. Criminals do not respect force boundaries so we will work together to target them."

Crimestoppers are supporting the initiative. Anyone with information about crimes can ring them in confidence on 0800 555 111.
