George Hall-Lambert has successfully begun his home tutoring after withdrawing from Howden School due to problems with his nut allergy.

George, who has severe nut and latex allergies, is now learning English, maths, science, IT, PE, art, history and geography at home with a fully-qualified secondary education teacher who travels from North Yorkshire to spend four hours a week with George.

His granny, Jean Hall, is also teaching George how to cook, an area that George has an interest in.

Judith Hall-Lambert, George's mum, told the Goole Times this week: "George is learning to bake because he needs to learn how to make things that suit his allergy. He can't go into shops to buy cakes, and needs to learn on his own.

"He has always had an interest in baking, and his granny is teaching him how to bake the old-fashioned way."

Judith added: "George's tutor visits for four hours on a Wednesday, and does work with him whilst she is here.

"He has been growing crystals in science, and does practical as well as written work.

"George is getting a good standard of education - when he is 16, he will understand the value of work."

George also goes to Howden Library each week, for periods of between four and six hours, to research his various subjects.

His mum Judith said that George used to suffer from stress migraines when he was at school, but these have since cleared up completely, and he is enjoying home learning.

George's granny told the Goole Times: "I am enjoying working with George, I have taught him baking since he was little."
