Green light for extension plans
A planning application for the erection of two-storey and single-storey extensions to the sides of a property in Hotham, along with a covered verandah to the rear of the property, was approved at a planning meeting recently.
Members of East Riding of Yorkshire Council's (ERYC) western area planning committee were expected to refuse the application at Four Lane Ends, Hardmoor Lane in Hotham, on the grounds that the proposal would have an unacceptable impact on the character of the existing house and surrounding area.
But, in a surprising u-turn, members of the committee went against the recommendation of planning officers and approved the application as they believed the extensions and verandah would fit in with the street scene and would enhance the local area.
