A much-loved pet has been reunited with his family in time for Christmas.

As this newspaper reported last week, Rocky, a nine-year-old collie, went missing while out on a walk.

His owners, Mark and Katie Anderton, feared the worst but put up posters and posted his photo on www.doglost.co.uk

"We put them up in shops and took one into the police station.

"The police station is being refurbished so the there.s no notice board, but they took the photo."

The following day, the same eagle-eyed lady recognised Rocky when a gentleman brought him into the station.

"He'd found on Saturday afternoon (December 15)," said Mr Anderton.

"He'd fed him, and taken him for a walk.

"The funniest thing was, Rocky was only three or four streets away. He'd even been walked past our house two or three times!

"My wife and Nicholas - they couldn't believe it! It really cheered them up, especially finding him the day before her birthday."

A spokesperson for doglost said: "We're delighted that the dog is back. We always say to owners that posters work. People always stop and look at missing-dog posters."

Sadly, some dogs are still missing. Pixie, a black and white border cross collie bitch, went missing more than six weeks ago.

She disappeared on Bonfire Night from Dobella Avenue in Rawcliffe.

The mother of Pixie's owner, who asked not to be named, believes she has been stolen and renewed her appeal that she be returned to make her owners' Christmas a happy one.

Anyone who has seen Pixie is asked to call 01405 837881 or 07708 101966.
