Staff at the Waterways Museum in Goole have one more reason to have a happy Christmas this year.

The museum, on Dutch Riverside, has been told that it has been awarded a grant of £10,000 from the Museums Council in London.

It will fund a year's worth of project delivery, which will include historical enactment and a reconstruction of a section of Mulberry harbour, the temporary harbour developed for the Normandy landings in the second world war, and partly built at Goole.. The project is called 'Their Past, Your Future'.

Claire Hunt, operations manager, said: "We're very pleased to be able to deliver this project.

"We've had lots of interest in World War Two from our veterans and primary schools."

The project is due to happen next summer.
