A new drink-drive hotline has led to eight arrests, including two of Goole men.

The number went live on December 1 in an attempt to reduce the number of drivers under the influence of alcohol on local roads.

An 18-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both from the town, are both due to appear before magistrates this month.

Pc Dean Minter, Humberside Police, said: "We want to reiterate the message and make sure people are aware of the number.

"Drink-driving costs lives and we want people to get in touch and provide us with the information we need.

'We will continue patrols and breathalysing drivers throughout the festive period in order to cut down the number of drink drivers in the county's roads.

"We want to thank the public for the information and ask them to continue to provide us with details of drink drivers."

Anyone with information about a drink-driver is asked to call 01482 220225. Calls can be made anonymously. The caller will be asked to record the information, which the police will then access and follow up.

Last year, more than 100 people out of the 3,601 breathalysed by Humberside Police between December 1 and January 1, gave a positive result.
