News Your chance to name MPs' new album
Members of MP4, the world's only parliamentary rock band, have offered their constituents the chance to name their second album.
If the band chooses the name you come up with, a prize of a bottle of champagne and tickets to see the band in action are on offer!
MP4 is a cross-party band with Goole MP Ian Cawsey on bass and vocals. The rest of the line-up is Kevin Brennan (Cardiff, Labour) on guitar and vocals, Greg Knight (East Yorkshire, Conservative) on drums and Pete Wishart (Perth, SNP) on keyboards. The band has performed at a number of charity gigs and produced an earlier album called House Music, the proceeds of which went to Save The Children.
A second album is currently in production. The recording was made at the Sphere Studios in Battersea, where Duran Duran record, as do the winners of X-Factor. The album is being co-produced by Chris Kimsey, who has produced the Rolling Stones and Robin Millar and who has had more than 40 number one singles with acts such as Sade and the Fine Young Cannibals.
Mr Cawsey said: "Whilst this is just a bit of fun in our spare time, it nevertheless is a fantastic opportunity for us to work with some of the most experienced people in the music industry and to put it all to some worthwhile charitable cause.
"But we thought it would be fun to allow local people to play a part by asking for names for the album. We liked House Music for the first album and would like something that is still a play on the parliamentary or political theme. We've already had suggestions for 'Chamber Music''and 'Party Music', which we quite like, but there must be more.
"If anyone comes up with a name we use then they will be credited on the album sleeve and will get a bottle of champagne and tickets to see us live - if they can stand it!"
