Mayor's concert enjoys success
Goole Town Mayor Jean Kitchen hosted her charity concert at St John's Parish Church on Saturday evening.
Sharlston Male Voice Choir, Russian pianist Valentina Davis and all her pupils performed on the night free of charge.
Jean said: "They were all delighted with the reception and friendliness of the audience and everyone involved and the choir was amazed at the acoustics in the church."
The concert was in aid of the Mayor's charities, St John's Parish Church, Artsaway/Castaway and Goole in Bloom.
The Sharlston Male Voice Choir, whose musical director Paul Rhodes kept everyone entertained with anecdotes between acts, sang a varied repertoire including Nessun Dorma, Softly as I leave you - a Cole Porter medley, You'll Never Walk Alone, My Way and finished with Amen.
Jean added: "The children were all wonderful and very talented and Tristan Chung brought tears to everyones eyes when he sang Amazing Grace in Cantonese.
"I have had many calls and e-mails from people saying how much they enjoyed the concert - their favourite word was was 'brilliant'!"
