A former Boothferry mayor has been thrown out of the Conservative party.
The Goole Times understands that Cllr Don Stewart, MBE, from Epworth, has been expelled after choosing not to sit with his party on North Lincolnshire Council.
A spokesperson for the Conservatives said: "This action, in the view of the management team of the Brigg and Goole Conservative Association, undermined the leadership of the Conservative group."
The executive council passed a resolution, which was upheld by the Central Office's committee in London.
Cllr Stewart was unavailable for comment.
