Street attackers leave two men in hospital

Published on 29th November 2007 in News

Two men needed hospital treatment after an assault outside the La Bodrum takeaway in Goole at the weekend.

The incident happened around 12.56am on Sunday close to the Boothferry Road premises.

According to police, the offender and the two victims - 28-year-old Goole men - got involved in a verbal argument and began to push each other around.

Minutes later the 28-year-olds were distracted when the offender approached them from one side and punched both of them in the face, causing them to fall to the ground. They were both injured as a result.

It is alleged that a second man then became involved and pushed one of the men to the ground again, possibly punching him in the face at the same time.

The first man suffered a cut to his eye, as well as a black eye and cuts and grazes to his face and cheek. The second man suffered a cut and lump to the rear of his head, bruising and redness to his head.

Both men went to Goole Hospital for treatment but were not detained.

A 16-year-old Goole boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has now been released on bail, pending further enquiries, until the new year.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident - anyone who was in the area at the time, or has any information, is asked to contact Humberside Police on 0845 6060 222 quoting log number 54 of November 25. Or, call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
