Holland House group fee wait
Holland House Action Group (HHAG) members are ready for the next round after one of their opponents asked for more time to pay their fees.
Earlier this year, HHAG were told that the two companies who wanted to turn the nursing home into a secure unit would have to pay them their expenses because they withdrew belatedly from a public inquiry.
Partnerships in Care have already paid out £8,110.90 but HHAG are still waiting for PD Services to forward costs of £5,407.
Keith Moore, chair of HHAG, which formed three years ago, said: "As PD Services had not been in touch regarding this matter, our legal representatives have made numerous calls to the company over the past couple of weeks inquiring when we are likely to receive the monies owed to us.
"We have been advised that the company are 'sorting their finances out' and consequently have asked for an extension of time to forward the money owed to us.
"Tom Burns [a spokesperson for PD Services] has said there are no financial problems - so why can't they pay the costs? It's only £5,000," Mr Moore told the Goole Times.
It has been agreed that PD Services will have until December 21 to get the money to HHAG.
The action group has not ruled out the possibility that PD Services are attracting investors to put in new applications.
"Rumours have been abounding that they had placed Holland House on the market but that they are now re-looking at 'other uses for the site'.
"We have to react accordingly and be equipped to mount another legal challenge if that is what we are to be faced with," said Mr Moore.
In preparation for this, the group's fundraising efforts are continuing, one of which will be tombola and raffle stalls at tomorrow's Christmas lights switch-on in Goole.
"We're as determined as we were three years ago," he said. "So long as we continue to receive the fantastic support of this community, we shall never give in. We have to be vigilant. We've clearly got the community behind us - I don't see how we can fail."
No one was available from PD Services to comment.
