Fitness boost for Riverside School

Published on 22nd November 2007 in News

A school for children with special needs is "delighted" to have been awarded £10,000 for a fitness centre.

The money has gone to Riverside Special School courtesy of the Awards for All scheme.

Head teacher Lynne Jarred said she was delighted with the grant, which will create a centre for students and staff to use.

Physical education teacher Jane Dixon said: "The children know and they're very excited about it.

"Obviously, it will broaden the curriculum and give the children insight into different varieties of sport.

"And hopefully it's something the children can continue with when they leave school."

It is still early days for the school, which is now looking at getting quotes and deciding what equipment will be best for the centre.
