Residents on low income or benefits can take advantage of a plug giveaway.
Powergen, part of E-On, has provided Goole Development Trust with 473 PowerDown Plugs to distribute to residents in Goole who are in receipt of benefits or on a low income.
The PowerDown plugs will help cut fuel bills, as they automatically switch off any equipment linked to a computer, such as the printer, scanner and speakers, when the computer is shut down.
It is hoped that by making homes more energy efficient, it will stop those most at risk from falling into fuel poverty.
Michelle Theaker, property manager at Goole Development Trust, said: "Goole Development Trust aims to further the economic, environmental and social regeneration of Goole and its surrounding areas. Therefore we can carry out our commitment to environmental issues by offering practical help to those who wish to become more energy efficient in their homes and cut their fuel bills."
PowerDown Plugs are available from Goole Town Council Offices and can be collected with any proof of benefit or low income. Goole Town Council is working in partnership with the trust to provide the PowerDown plugs to help people in Goole.
Goole Development Trust is a 'Not for Profit' organisation which delivers advice, guidance and loans to new and recently started businesses, managed workspace, environmental projects and support for social enterprises.
