Office plans delayed

Published on 22nd November 2007 in News

Plans to erect nine units of office space and associated car parking on land south of the Premier Travel Inn on Rawcliffe Road, near Junction 36 of the M62, was deferred when members of East Riding of Yorkshire Council's (ERYC) planning committee met last week.

The application, put forward by West Coast Properties Ltd, seeks permission for the development of five blocks of B1 office space, divided into nine units with associated parking, on currently vacant grassland located between the M62, the existing Travel Inn, and Macdonalds restaurant. It is visible from both the motorway, and the approach road from the motorway.

The proposed units vary in size from 238 square metres to 380 square metres, and each of the units is two storey, with brick elevations, and profiled steel sheet for the roofs.

During consultation, Airmyn Parish Council stated that if the application were to be approved, it would be "extremely concerned" about the increased traffic that would result.

At last Thursday's meeting, planning officers advised members of the planning committee that the proposal should be deferred for the receipt of revised plans, reducing the scale of the development to a maximum of 1,170 square metres, and providing increased landscaping.

Planning officers also advised that once this information has been received, the application should be referred to the Government Office as a Departure from the Development Plan and, subject to no negative comment being received, the Director of Planning and Economic Regeneration will be authorised to approve the application.
