Cash boost for St Joseph's
Natwest Bank has donated £250 to St Joseph's Primary School as a kick-start to the fundraising for their new building.
St Joseph's need to raise £30,000 themselves over three years in order to secure the funds they need for their building because, as a Catholic school, they need to raise ten per cent of the cost.
Valerie Stannard, mother to pupils Ellie and Lydia and Natwest employee of 21 years, received the cheque from her employer, whose policy is to donate £250 to any employee getting involved in voluntary work. Val is involved in the fundraising team, which is made up of parents, helpers, staff and pupils
Diane Martin, head teacher at St Joseph's, said: "Our building is small and classrooms are cramped, so we need this. Val has worked incredibly hard to get the fund-raising off to a flying start."
Other fundraising activities in the pipeline are a grand Christmas draw, with the first prize being a much sought after Nintendo Wii. Tickets will be sold for the prize draw on a stall at the switch-on of Goole Christmas lights next Friday.
The school will also be holding a Christmas bazaar event on December 20, which will include things such as a jewellery stall, tombola, cake stall and raffle. This will be held between 6pm and 8pm at the school and everyone is welcome to attend.
