Glews Garage has joined forces with Spar to run three charity campaigns that aim to help children in need across the country over the festive period.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit Spar at Glews Garage and take part in the Spar Christmas toy appeal, the Letter from Santa campaign, and the Guess the name of the teddy bear competition, in order to help to make a real difference to a young child's Christmas.

The Spar Christmas toy appeal is a simple but effective idea. Customers wishing to take part are asked to buy an extra toy this Christmas and drop it into Spar at Glews Garage. This will then be collected by the Spar delivery vehicle, taken to the main depot and then distributed to the National Children's Homes (NCH) project.

Also running at the Spar is the Letter from Santa campaign, in which customers donate a suggested £5 and receive a personalised letter from Santa by 'Rudolph Mail.' The money raised goes towards the excellent work done by the NSPCC and Childline.

Every £15 raised by the Letter from Santa appeal will help to answer five more calls at the NSPCC and Childline, both of which will counsel around 2,500 children every day over the Christmas period.

And for a £1 donation, customers can have a go at guessing the name of the cuddly teddy bear sitting on the counter. If the guess is correct, the bear is yours.
