Town Council object to secure unit application

New plans to transform the former Holland House nursing home into a low-security unit for women with mental health problems have been objected to by Goole Town Council.
A planning application has now been submitted to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council on behalf of Partnerships in Care. The plans seek permission for a change of use so that the former nursing home can be made into a secure unit, as well as for an extension to the car park.
The plans were discussed by Goole councillors at their meeting on Monday.
Cllr Pat O'Neil said: "This site should be a residential home for the elderly."
In agreement, Cllr Jane Marsden said: "We still have the same problem. This is not an appropriate site for a secure unit and we want a nursing home back."
Councillors agreed to object to the plans.
Help needed to fight on
The campaign to raise funds for Holland House Action Group to continue their fight against plans for the property on Westfield Land in Hook is still in need of financial assistance.
A plea in last week's edition of the Goole Times for residents of the town to each donate £2 towards the action group's fight has seen £36 being handed in to the Goole Times office on Boothferry Road this week.
The Goole Times office is continuing to take donations this week. Receipts are available.
There is a special meeting of the East Riding Planning Committee on Thursday November 2nd at the Viking's.
The meeting is to discuss the planning application for change of use of Holland House Residential Home into a low security unit and an extension to the car park. The meeting starts at 2pm.
