News Fined for talking and driving
A man who stopped using his hands-free kit in order to speak into the handset of his mobile phone was spotted by police, a court heard on Tuesday.
Younus Kiyal (34), of The Hollies, West Cowick, appeared at Goole Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and admitted driving while using a mobile phone.
Crown prosecutor Phillip Evans told the court that Mr Kiyak had committed the offence at around 10am on September 3.
Mr Kiyak, who manages a takeaway, said he had been using the hands-free kit but had put it to his ear as he and the supplier he was talking to were unable to hear one another.
"It was a matter of two to three seconds," he said. "Unfortunately, it was the moment that the police saw me."
Magistrates imposed three points on his driving licence, and ordered Mr Kiyak to pay a £100 fine, £40 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
