East Riding Youth Dance is hosting a December platform event to showcase work by young dancers in the area.

For the first time, the workshops have been extended from 14- to 18-year-olds to include dancers aged 11 to 13.

The East Riding Youth Dance Platform will take place on Sunday, December 2 at Woldgate College, Pocklington, from 6pm. It will include 12 dance pieces, ranging from jazz and modern to hip-hop, street, contemporary and break dancing.

Emma Townend, co-ordinator of East Riding Youth Dance, said: "There is a mountain of dance talent in the East Riding's young people and we have harnessed it to give everyone a polished skill and creativity, which can be valuable in their present and future lives."

Dance sessions are held over three terms. The next session will start in January. Tickets for the December platform cost £4 for adults and £3 for concessions, and are available on 01482 392966. For more details log on to www.eryd.co.uk or ring 07795337492.
