Volunteer heads to France
A Millennium Volunteer from Goole has spent time last week compiling a video of the town in order to share his culture with young people from around Europe next month on a week-long trip to France.
Richard Neno is set to join four other Millennium Volunteers from Beverley early next month as they journey to Montbrison in France and spend a week networking, socialising and learning about good food and good health.
The trip is part of the Youth for Europe programme, and encourages young people's active participation, mobility and the development of their sense of citizenship.
The forthcoming exchange is one of three strands to the Youth for Europe programme and provides young people across Europe with an opportunity to meet, discuss and confront various themes and issues, whilst learning about each other's countries and cultures.
In preparation for the journey, Richard spent time on Friday with project worker and organiser of the visit, Sue Dudill, filming aspects of the town that will represent local aspects of healthy eating and living.
The video will be shared on the visit with young people from France, Hungary, Germany and Italy.
Sue Dudill told the Goole Times this week: "We went on a similar trip to Montendre in February and it was a success.
"This time around, we are going to take traditional English food along with us to carry out a tasting.
"We are filming ethnic areas of Goole, foodwise, and we also recently carried out some filming at Beverley Food Festival."
Sue will head off for Montbrison with Richard and four other Millennium Volunteers on December 2 for one week, where activities will include the exchange of local produce and tastings, cooking, gardening, collective sport, African dance, yoga, Qi Quong, discussion and role play.
