Daisychain enjoy Ofsted success

Published on 8th November 2007 in News

The Daisychain Day Nursery in Hook has received a glowing Ofsted report, achieving 'good' in all aspects of the inspection.

Ofsted inspector Maralyn Chiverton stated that all children are kept safe in a "warm, very welcoming and secure environment which is clean and well maintained". The report also said that the children are kept healthy by the implementation of effective hygiene practices and procedures, which meet their individual, nutritional, physical and health needs well.

Ms Chiverton said in her report: "All staff are pro-active in promoting good hygiene preparation and children are offered healthy, nutritious meals. Children are happy, motivated learners who show good interest in what they do.

"Children make very good progress because staff have a good understanding of the Foundation Stage. They provide a wide variety of interesting, well-planned activities and experiences that are linked to all areas of learning."

Staff were also praised for their high regard for children's individuality. It was said that diversity was addressed in a positive manner by all staff being positive role models.

Glenys Aykroyd, manager of the nursery, said: "I would like to thank all the staff for working so hard. They are the ones who make Daisychain Nursery a happy, safe and secure environment for children to play and learn and make my job as their manager an easier one.

"Special thanks to Lisa Smith, my deputy, for her help and support, Lisa Jackson, pre-school supervisor for her hard work in pre-school, Joanne Major for leading our toddler room and Vicky Lightowler for caring for our babies so well."

Ms Chiverton added: "The nursery is fully committed to improving care and education and promoting an inclusive environment in which every child matters."

Daisychain currently has places available in the baby room; parents are welcome to look around the nursery any time and do not need to make an appointment.
