Site visits delay Van Dijk Nurseries' plans

Two planning applications to see changes made at Van Dijk Nurseries' sites in Newport and North Cave were discussed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council's (ERYC) planning committee once again last week but did not come any closer to being approved.

An application for the erection of glass housing and associated works on land north of Cowslip Cottage on Canal Side East in Newport, submitted by Van Dijk Nurseries, was deferred for a site visit when members of the planning committee met last Thursday, October 18.

A second application, also submitted by Van Dijk Nurseries, for the erection of a building for the packing and distribution of horticultural produce in Common Lane, North Cave, was also deferred for a site visit.

At a planning meeting three weeks ago, members of the committee voted in favour of the applications but both were referred back to last week's meeting after it was found that 'Right to Speak' letters that were filled in by anyone who was not classed as a statutory consultee had not been sent out before the applications were decided.

Following the forthcoming site visits, both applications will be considered again by ERYC's planning committee at a later date.
