Staff at Michael James Opticians will be cheering on two of their colleagues as they take to the stage as part of the annual production by Goole Amateur Opratic and Dramatic Society.

Kim Bentley (21), of Eastrington and Gareth Smith (21), of Goole, are both part of the cast for Show Business, a musical extravaganza featuring a blend of old favourites and popular newer numbers from a variety of well-known shows. The production is currently being staged at Vermuyden School.

By day, Kim works as a trainee dispensing optician at Michael James Opticians and Gareth is employed there as a dispensing assistant. Both are in the company for the performances, but Gareth also performs two solos – 'My Way' and 'Why God?' – and Kim is one of four cast members who collaborate on 'That's entertainment'.

Gareth has appeared in the last nine productions by Goole Amateur Dramatic Society and Kim has been performing with the group for around 12 years.

Their employer, Garrey Haase, commented: "It is great to see two young members of our team so actively involved in community life in this way and I know that the whole team is immensely proud of Kim and Gareth.

"We are all going along to support them in the show and are very much looking forward to seeing them up there on the stage."
