New name for Centreport site

Goole's biggest development is the focus of a new marketing campaign and is attracting interest nationwide.

Leeds-based developers Sterling Capital have launched Capitol Park, formerly known as Centreport.

The 300-acre, £200 million site has already attracted Guardian Glass and Tesco, whose 850,000 square feet distribution centre began accepting staff on September 1.

Martin Croxen, chief executive of Sterling Capitol, said Goole was a "welcome addition" to their portfolio of business parks.

Simon Clarke, the Sterling Capitol development director in charge of Capitol Park, said interest was already high.

"Further inquiries have been received from across the country, ranging from small industrial units to big warehouses, retail and leisure outlets. With outline planning permission granted and the infrastructure in place, we are ready to turn these inquiries into reality.

"We have capacity for 3,500,000 square feet of prime commercial development available for sale and to let.

"This development ticks all the boxes, from providing a framework to create 6,000 new, quality and sustainable jobs, to radically improving the infrastructure of the site and to protecting the environment with strong ecological measures.

"We are confident that we will deliver one of the most important and successful developments in the area for 30 years."

The park's plans include a new by-pass road which will link the M62, the port and the town centre.
