Recognition for school's plan to reduce accidents

Published on 11th October 2007 in News

Staff and students at Howden School and Technology College are celebrating after winning recognition for their school travel plan.

The student council has to put together a travel plan which aims to create a school safety zone in Howden and reduce the risk of accidents.

Many of the suggestions came from parents and students following extensive consultation with all members of the local community.

It has now been improved by the local authority and discussions are under way to implement the recommendations.

Last Thursday, a group of staff and students attended a presentation ceremony at County Hall in Beverley which recognised the student council's efforts.

Two council members, Rosie Featherstone and Daniel Bonser, were awarded an additional prize for their hard work.
