Youngsters get creative for competition

Published on 11th October 2007 in News

Creative youngsters at Snaith Primary School, Cowick Primary School and Year Seven pupils at Snaith School were congratulated this week after sharing their visions of an ideal future for Snaith and Cowick.

The Future in Your Hands competition was organised earlier this year by the Snaith and Cowick Together regeneration partnership and invited Year Five and Year Six pupils in the area to submit their ideas - in essay, poster or poem format - on how Snaith and Cowick could be improved.

Suggestions included a swimming pool, a youth club, better public transport, a skate park and a football pitch. Winners were announced earlier this week.

At Snaith Primary School, first-place winners were Holly Denby and David Cohen.

The second place winner was Georgia Parkin, while Georgie Smith, Rebecca Taylor-Davis, Sean Younger and Macauley Booth received highly-commended certificates.

Meanwhile, at Cowick Primary School Lucy Baker won the first place prize, Megan Kelly and Annie-Rosie Grantham won the second prize, and Rosie Ing, Emily Calvert and Mark Gribbin were highly commended for their efforts.

Snaith and Cowick Together would like to thank Goole Leisure Centre for donating family swim vouchers to the competition.
