ouncillors want new bus shelter

Snaith and Cowick Town councillors are set to urge the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) to consider providing funding for a bus shelter in East Cowick, despite fears that it would become an easy target for vandalism.
Following a desperate plea from a resident for 'any kind of shelter' to protect public transport users from wet weather, town councillors raised concerns after the East Cowick bus shelter fell into disrepair and was later removed after its ruins were vandalised by teenagers.
Meeting this week, the Town Council was informed by ERYC currently has no provisions in place for a bus shelter. If the Town Council wanted one urgently, it would cost £1,500 to £2,000, plus installation costs.
Once installed, ERYC would hand the bus shelter over to the Town Council to maintain.
Town Councillors instead agreed to ask ERYC to fund and maintain the bus shelter when provisions are in place, and it was suggested that proof of the need for a bus shelter is submitted to ERYC.
