Mobile phone users to be targeted by police
Following a number of complaints from residents, Goole Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting a high-visibility campaign in conjunction with Humberside Police's ongoing road safety initiative.
This campaign seeks to prosecute people who use their mobile phones whilst driving or not wearing a seatbelt.
Failing to wear a seatbelt can carry a penalty of a £30 fixed-penalty ticket or a court appearance by a summons, and using a mobile phone whilst driving can carry a penalty of £60 and a three-point endorsement by fixed penalty ticket, or a court appearance by summons.
Pc Martin Savage said: "This campaign is run annually to emphasise that the use of mobile phones whilst driving is dangerous to pedestrians and other motorists and that the use of seatbelts in vehicles is very important for everyone, including children."
