Goole Town Council has objected to a plans for a new housing development near Carr Lane and Thorntree Lane in Goole.

Peter Ward Homes applied for outline planning permission to build the residential development but councillors unanimously objected to the application.

Cllr Jane Marsden said: "The people of Thorntree Lane definitely have some concerns about this, they are not happy with this amount of units."

Councillors agreed that there were several potential problems with developing on the site, including drainage, access onto the site resulting in more vehicles going up and down the roads. They also felt that the site was already over-developed.

Cllr Malcolm Boatman added: "There is no benefit to this because it is not affordable housing. It is therefore not helping Goole's situation as at the moment, what Goole needs is affordable housing."

Cllr Kester Dean agreed: "I do find it incredible that East Riding don't insist on any affordable housing, it must be a unique situation," he said.

Councillors decided to object to the outline planning permission put forward by Peter Ward Homes.
