Sign victory for Rawcliffe Post Office
Rawcliffe Post Office has finally been granted permission to put up a sign to let passing trade know where they are.
Gary and Maureen Brown, owners of the post office, took the issue up with East Riding some time ago and were told that they would not be getting a sign.
However, with the help and support of the public and MP Ian Cawsey, they managed to collect 500 signatures petitioning for a sign to be put up in a visible place on the main road.
Mr Cawsey said: "It was great to see how many people supported Gary and Maureen in this. Other councils do it, so we are not asking for anything that doesn't already exist.
"A lot of passing trade goes through Rawcliffe and a simple sign can draw people's attention and let them know that they are here. I can only see this to be a positive thing."
Maureen added: "This is fantastic news. We are starting to rely on passing trade now so it will hopefully make a big difference.
"We want to thank all those people who supported us on this. It is only two weeks since we began petitioning and we have now been granted the sign."
