Yorkshire Water customers in the area are being invited to a drop-in session in Gilberdyke next week so that they can learn more about the second phase of a massive £5.3m water mains refurbishment.

Ellerker, Elloughton, Welton, Melton and Riplingham were the first to benefit from the project that will see pipework either replaced, restored or cleaned, and Asselby, Barmby-on-the-Marsh, Blacktoft, Breighton, Bubwith, Everthorpe, Gilberdyke, North Cave, South Cave, Spaldington, Wressle and Yokefleet are next in line.

"We will try to keep disruption to a minimum but there is bound to be an element of inconvenience," said project manager Dean Williamson.

"However, we're hoping local people will come along to the drop-in, study our plans and let us know what they think so we have the best chance of limiting the impact of the work."

The drop-in will take place at Gilberdyke Memorial Hall in Clementhorpe Road on Thursday, September 20, between 4.30pm and 7pm. Staff from Yorkshire Water will be available to answer questions along with representatives from contractors Laing O' Rourke, who will be carrying out the work on behalf of Yorkshire Water.
