New trophy in memory of Glen
A new garden competition was introduced into Ousefleet Show this year in memory of a local man who died tragically.
Ousefleet man Glen Holbrough loved gardening and was very knowledgeable about plants, so a competition for the 'Best Garden Frontage' was introduced into this year's Ousefleet Show, which took place on Saturday, August 18.
Glen's mother donated a memorial trophy to the competition, and so that the entrance money could be put back into the show's general funds, friends made donations so that California Gardens vouchers could be purchased for the first three winners of the competition.
Organisers would like to thank the donors who are Mrs V. Wood of Whitgift, Mr R. Hudson of Laxton, Mr K. Astbury of Reedness, Mr and Mrs G. Clarke of Goole, and Riverside Cattery.
Thanks are also extended to John Hall from California Gardens and his daughter Kathryn, who gave up most of an evening to judge the 32 entries from seven villages.
