The woman who was seriously injured in a head-on collision between a car and an articulated lorry at Glew's Garage last week has died.

Christine Ann Kennedy (64), of Lund near Driffield, was a front-seat passenger in the silver Volvo S80 that was involved in a crash with the lorry outside the Air and Calder Travel Inn on Rawcliffe Road. Mrs Kennedy was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious internal injuries and a damaged pelvis but died on Sunday.

The 74-year-old driver of the car was also hurt and was taken to Castle Hill Hospital for treatment. He has since been allowed home.

The collision was reported to police by an off-duty police officer last Tuesday afternoon at 4.40pm after he came across the crash and rendered immediate assistance to the two casualties.

Police, fire and ambulance crews went to the scene, as well as an air ambulance. The road was closed for several hours and a diversion was set up through Airmyn allowing the emergency services to give assistance to the injured people.

Police are seeking witnesses to the collision, which happened on Tuesday, August 28 and are appealing for anyone who saw the vehicles involved prior to and during the collision to contact Humberside Police on 0845 6060222.
