The Blacksmith's Arms in Hook is set to open its doors once again later this year following total refurbishment, both inside and out.

The public house closed in April this year, but John Oates Smith has now acquired the business and will run it alongside The Vikings in Goole.

The Blacksmith's Arms is to be totally refurbished, both inside and out, and will have a new name that is yet to be announced.

"There will be a casual bar/lounge which will serve drinks and quality bar food, lunchtime and evening, seven days a week, and also a restaurant which will serve table d'hote and à la carte meals," said Mr Oates Smith.

"All food will be home cooked and will have a Yorkshire theme, using local produce wherever possible."

He added: "There is a new name for the business in the pipeline, but nothing has been finalised yet."

Work on the building is expected to begin in early September, and should be open in early November, in time for Christmas.

There will be an office open at the Blacksmith's Arms from Monday, September 3, to deal with a inquiries and bookings for the new venture. Members of the public are advised to look out for any further announcements, or contact 01405 763482 or 07809 887294 for more information.
