Goole MP Ian Cawsey last week visited the Pastures Centre in Goole to see the exciting plans for a £1m upgrade of the site and told how the decision to use the former Pasture Road School as a day centre was an inspired one.

Plans are in place to refurbish the former school as part of a £1m scheme that will include a glass dome as the centrepoint of the building. During his visit last week Mr Cawsey praised the fine work that was already taking place at the Pastures Centre.

Following his visit the MP said: "Many of us were sad to see the closure of Pasture Primary School and concerned about what might happen if it became a derelict site.

"But the decision to use the former school as a day centre was an inspired one and it was great to see the building being put to such a worthwhile use.

"There were all kinds of activities and services available in the building and with the dedicated support of the staff, it was clear that the users of the centre were enjoying all that is on offer.

"It is a very exciting development and great to see the Pastures still being a much-needed service for local people. I look forward to watching this scheme develop over the next year."
