Fifteen trees along Hook Road in Goole have been safeguarded by a Tree Preservation Order.

An application was made for an order after fears that plans to convert the existing property at 106 Hook Road into apartments would be a threat to the trees.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council planning councillors were told on Tuesday that the trees, which include plum, yew and holly trees, give character to the surroundings and are a valuable habitat for wildlife.

There were no letters of objection and members agreed to confirm the order, as had been recommended by officers.
