A girl was taken to hospital with the after the horse she was riding was involved in a car accident last Wednesday night.

It is understood that two horse riders were on the road between Asselby and Barmby on the Marsh and the accident occurred at 9.21pm.

An ambulance took a girl to York Hospital with a back injury.

Howden firefighters were called to disconnect the battery of the car. A small fire in the engine compartment burned itself out.
