Double award success for Thorne school
The summer holidays will mark a double celebration for staff and pupils at Thorne Brook Primary School after achieving two prestigious successes.
In a recent Ofsted evaluation, the school was rated 'good' overall, with some 'outstanding' features. The establishment has also achieved a second success after winning the Artsmark Gold Award the national arts award for schools that demonstrate a commitment to developing their arts provision.
Ofsted inspectors found the school to be especially successful in promoting pupils' personal development and noted how very rapid progress made in personal, social and emotional development provided an excellent basis for pupils' good progress and continuing outstanding personal development during Key Stages One and Two.
One pupil explained: "We like learning new things every day and I get to say my opinions and get listened to."
"We are absolutely thrilled with both results and attribute it to the sheer hard work of all involved," said head teacher Sally Kimber.
"Ofsted inspectors commented how every child matters at Thorne Brook Primary, which completely reflects our ethos."
Town Mayor Martin Winter said: "The children of Doncaster really are the future, so very well done to Thorne Brook on such wonderful achievements, and for providing our children with the very best opportunity to succeed thanks to such high standards of development and attainment."
