The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is offering grants under its community composting programme for groups of residents to recycle food waste into compost with their own equipment at local sites.

Each group or club can be as small as 10 to 15 houses or up to a whole town. All that it takes is a keen interest from two or three people to get the project going.

The council's community composting officers will help each group through the grant procedure and any paperwork. The council will also help with any running costs by paying for the group to collect and recycle the waste.

Anyone wanting to know more or who would like help setting up a composting project should ring Steve Hall on 01482 391752 or email stephen.hall@eastriding.gov.uk
