Smokers clinic
A new 'whistle-stop' service is coming to Goole next month in order to help smokers give up the habit.
A drop-in clinic that offers one-to-one appointments that last for ten to 15 minutes will begin at the Bartholomew Medical Group premises in Bartholomew Avenue from August 14; the clinic will run each week between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
The service, which is to be run by a smoking-cessation specialist from the local NHS Stop Smoking Support Service, is open to all members of the public, not just patients registered with the Bartholomew Medical Group. Just turn up at the centre on the day.
The service offers support in preparing to quit smoking, including information and access to medication, and support for at least the first month after giving up. Smokers interested in giving up are encouraged to pop in and have a chat.
