Clean hospitals
North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust is to introduce a new innovative procedure in a bid to reduce the risks of patients acquiring a healthcare associated infection like MRSA.
It involves giving patients a special antibacterial body wash, which will be used instead of the patient's soap or shower gel whilst they are in hospital. Already patients in intensive care, coronary care, the high-dependency unit, orthopaedics and vascular surgical wards receive the antibacterial wash.
Dr Liz Scott, medical director, said the new regime should be followed by all patients admitted to participating wards. "We take MRSA and hospital infection extremely seriously and are committed to reducing infections in our hospitals and giving our patients a high quality health care," she said.
